julie got back from a quick work trip late last night, and bumi was very excited to see her. i left for nashville in the morning and was unable to connect to the in-flight wifi, so i worked entirely from my phone using internal slack-integrated agents. the mobility of work is truly astounding, both in how you can do it and from where.
upon arrival, met everyone at jeff's, then left for one of jeff's and mariel's favorite restaurants, folk. we enjoyed a melon salad, tuna, and a cucumber caesar for starters, and entrée'd a few wood-fired pizzas, sharing a lovely bottle of wine.
we night-capped at present tense, formerly falcon coffee in wedgewood-houston. started with some sourdough and a delicious bonito-flaked sweet potato brûlée, and finished with a miso peanut soft serve, a mochi tiramisu, and chocolate mousse. delighted to be spending time with my friends this weekend.
sunday: jeff, mariel, julie, and i got coffee in the morning and walked around the farmers market in the junction. jeff was in the mood for cinnamon rolls, so we stopped by snapdragon and tried theirs for the first time — delicious. afterward we went home; they went for a run and we ended up getting pho for lunch. we rested, then before mariel's flight in the afternoon we played catan and sushi go.
later in the evening jeff and i had a chance to connect and talked about life. he said something i've been thinking about, about not having to do things the right way — i'll share more about that later.
monday: jeff left in the morning and julie's and my monday rhythms started. i worked out, we ate dinner, and took bumi to the dog park. a wonderful weekend, and also nice to get back to the day to day.
slow morning. grabbed coffee with jeff and mariel, then dropped bumi off at daycare. had lunch at kobuta and ookami. jeff went for a run in the afternoon while julie, mariel, and i rested.
heading over to pat and kathryn's for dinner, then swinging by the annual upper alki block party before calling it a night.
jeff and mariel are here for the weekend doing a little mini bache-tour, and we're hosting them at our house. they spent the day hanging out at u-village, then came over to get settled after i finished work.
we dropped bumi off at daycare, explored a few shops in cap hill, and ended the day at the mariners game with jeff's parents and pat. so lovely to see everyone.
trying something a little different with my day-to-day rhythms: logging into work a little earlier, then going to the gym in the afternoon to work out and close out my working day in the coworking area. evenings are for family, parks with bumi, and resting early.
today was a success and brought me a sense of peace.
felt a bit under the weather today. went to the coffee shop with julie and bumi, then napped for most of the afternoon.
julie is outside gardening today, and i'm setting up claude on my personal machines.
grady let me know he was in town today. we met up for coffee in the morning, then he went off to do his thing. after coffee, julie and i took bumi to the dog park.
later in the afternoon, grady stopped by before his evening flight, and we took a walk and had dinner. it was wonderful seeing him, even if it was for a moment.
bumi has been waking me up every morning at 7, licking and nipping at my ears, pawing my face until i acknowledge him.
today, i worked, taking bumi for a walk in the afternoon to break up my day. made dinner, cleaned, and went to bed, though had a hard time falling asleep. regular monday to kick off the week.
started the day cheering mike on at the 2026 bellevue city amateur. this afternoon we took bumi to westcrest dog park, which i'd highly recommend. he played with dogs of every size, including:
